My laptop seems to be getting warmer than usual.

Just letting you know. If I suddenly seem to disappear, most likely, it will be because the laptop died. So no one worry if I am okay. Apart from being cranky about my dead laptop, I will be fine.

Today, I will be looking online, while I still can, to see which laptops are being recommended these days. I may need one soon.

the cheapest solution is a cooler, about $15 at Target. The laptop sits on it and has a fan built in that is powered by a USB port.

I always had 2 laptops, one as a backup, even if it did not have all bells and whistles, but I somehow have ended up with one right now.

I need it only for word processing and the internet, so maybe I will get something short of a full computer.

For now, I just did not want anyone to think the worst if I went AWOL suddenly.

6. hello dear NE! I was just gonna say the coolers are on ebay for about 10 bucks

well that's what I paid back a few months ago. it works pretty well. hopefully that solves your over-heating prob!

Aside from becoming a DU civilian (must feel odd after all that time), what have you been up to?

I didn't even know DU3 had mods, as we know them. I thought it was just "hosts" and "juries."

A good while ago, a couple of charmers from DU3 had informed us that we were no longer being moderated here. But, we've been behaving anyway, apart from the occasional F bomb, which is not against TOS here, anyway.

But, you know that, because we did not overwork you while you were modding here.

What is DU2 all about? What is the story? There are clearly a number of you who have either never gone over to DU3, or have gone, then come back again discontented. I was vaguely aware of the continued existence of DU2 when the upgrade took place, but have recently discovered this place again -- it's like DU Underground!

Are there tombstoned DU3ers among us here? Are there some whose older computers can't support DU3? Are the members of DU2 soft neoluddites? I'm fascinated and deeply curious as to what the driving motivation of most here might be.

16. Hi NinetySix. When the new DU3 started I had no access.

I wasn't officially banned. I was being blocked.

I had been particularly outspoken about what I perceived to be the President's betrayals. When I discovered this little island of outcasts I felt like I fit right in as most of the regulars were critical of the status quo. Since then I have been able to read and post on DU3. But any day now I expect to find my access to DU3 blocked again because I don't go along with the program.

18. I clean mine out fairly often

Take it apart, blow it out with compressed air and reapply thermal paste. You could also go with a lower wattage cpu. For older laptops, cpu upgrades can be fairly cheap.
