believe in restricting use of public land to a public use.

He'd allow private use of public lands.

This is in the densely populated city of Boston.

(I am typing as I watch a rerun of a Mayoral debate.)

BTW, since the current Mayor practically made the office into a lifetime gig, we have 12 candidates for mayor. It's ludicrous.

When they sit on a dais for purposes of a debate, it looks like The Last Supper, if the disciples didn't invite Jesus and showed up in suits.

So far, I've heard only one candidate say that he opposes charter schools. He just may get my vote on that alone.

But, naturally, the guy with the most money in the race has gotten money from some charter school association. I hope he loses.

1. Crazy, but typical.
What we need is more public use of private lands.

Example, where people have build right up to the coastline and expect privacy from the masses.

Take back the coastlines, take back the mountains, take back the lakes and rivers take back what's underground.

It's everyone's natural world.

2. Ted Kennedy once passed a law that prevented that in Cape Cod.
I don't know if it ever got repealed. I do know that no one has ever tried to keep me from walking along the shoreline on the Cape.

3. There is a real push to privatize the commons.
Their goals are plain.

6. That might depens on whether we're talking New Democrat or
traditional Democrat.

New Democrat: public-private partnerships, privatization, etc.

7. "Third way"
I watched the Third Way "Democrat" guy on C-Span. He went on about how we have to cut social security. He didn't make a peep about the 'at least' 52 billion per year the nation wastes on surveillance of the American people. These assholes are taking over my party. I have no fondness for asshole Republicans posing as Democrats.

8. "These assholes are taking over my party."
I don't know what it is like state by state, but, on the federal level, they have taken over the Party, no "are taking" about it.

That ship was sailing its final voyage during the Clinton administration, if not before; and we just didn't get it.

Hell, Al Franken votes consistently against food stamps and I went out of my way to donate to him when he was fighting the big vote count battle against his Republican opponent. Because of that, I guess, I got a frantic phone call recently, telling me I had to help Al Franken because Republicans were attacking him. I told the caller that I could not care less.

Only a few members of the House, leftovers from the 1960s, have not already converted to Third Way. And even then......Barbara Lee was the only vote in the house, of over 400 members, to vote against the Authorization to Use Military Force. Those who still speak out have been attacked by the House Democratic leadership, like Rangel and Waters. But, as you may have noticed in a prior post of mine, even they signed a letter for weaker protections for pension plans, as did Lee.

In my state, the co chair of the Obama campaign in 2008 and 2012 is my Governor. (Axelrod testing his campaign techniques and speeches here with Deval Patrick in 2006. When Obama got accused in 2008 of plagiarizing from Deval Patrick's 2006 speeches, neither of them admitted the truth). My Mayor got elected many years ago as a populist Democrat and has morphed into a Third Way Democrat. He never shuts up about "public private pahtnahships," which he loves to bits. And before he lost his health, he was planning to build a monument to himself--the tallest building in Boston, named after him. I think that project is dead now. At least I hope so.

9. PS To quote a poster whose name escapes me
"Third Way? I'd be grateful for two ways.

Here's a link to the thread about the letter signed by Waters, Rangel and Lee that I referred to in my first reply to your post.
