A baker's dozen of Mayoral candidates on the line today.
Candidate with the biggest treasure chest: John Connolly (champion of charter schools)

Guess which candidate is leading in the polls?

And people wonder why so many voters are apathetic.

I would love to see a surprise win by Consalvo or Arroyo, but I am not that hopeful.

1. P.S. The purpose of today's vote is not to elect a Mayor, but to narrow the field.

This may have confused voters, who may think they can vote for more than one candidate, in an effort to choose all the finalists. However, if they vote for more than one person, their ballot will be disgualified entirely.

Add to this that an effort to put all the mayoral candidates, plus all the city council candidates, has resulted in a very crowded ballot, where in a mistake would be easy to make.

In other words, Boston apparently learned nothing from Florida 2000.

Adding to all the above are so called journalists, who opine there is little difference among the candidates, something that definitely is not true. There are differences among the candidates in terms of experience and qualifications and also in vision for the city and how it works with business people, how it handles social programs, etc. Lots of differences in both people and policies.

The numbnuts pundits, however, cite as an example of all candidates being mostly the same that all candidates favor civil rights and LGBT rights.

:wtf:

I guess people pedaling the idea that cultural issues are all that matter in politics are winning the brainwashing battle.

The pundits contrast this with the days of Mayor White, when Boston was torn apart by race. No, it was torn apart then by court mandated school busing, which even a saint could legitimately oppose without being the least bit racist.

And, to top it all off, turnout has been very light.

2. Maybe they learned a lot from the 2,000 Florida election.
:-)

3. I thought of that, too!
I don't know if the things I cited would favor any one candidate over the others, though, so I gave them a pass.
