I am grateful to Ted Cruz
Edited on Sat Sep-28-13 06:01 AM by No Elephants

for making a total ass of himself with his faux filibuster.

He has a very interesting personal story--or rather, his father does, having been imprisoned for opposing Batista and supported Castro, later opposing Castro, when he perceived Castro to be oppressive as well.

Supposedly after escaping Cuba, entering the US (without documents, I assume) and getting to Austin, TX, the senior senor Cruz worked his way through college as a dishwasher, earning 50 cents an hour. (Somehow, I find that hard to believe, even back then, given that the money had to stretch for tuition, books, room and board and clothing; and we're talking about 1960s, not 1860s.)

Senator Cruz was also a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law.

(Gee, and here I thought Republicans had no use for lawyers or academia, espcially Ivy League grad schools, yet Cruz was being talked up by Republicans for POTUS.)

Obama was Editor in Chief of the Harvard Law Review, a prestigious position to which one is was elected by his members of the Law Review. However, Obama was not graduated from Harvard Law with honors of any kind--and law schools often strive to bestow some honor on those for those who have served on the school's Law Review, which requires many hours of unpaid work, as well as often cutting classes and skipping homework. So, the school tries to cut them some slack with the cum laudes.

Anyway, boys and girls, do watch out for those with an appealing personal story who wish to be POTUS. It's not always that they shoot themselves in the foot as badly as Ted Cruz did.

When they fail to do that, it's up to you to make sure the bad ones with appealing personal stories don't get nominated. 'Cause Amerians love them a candidate with an appealing rags to riches personal story, especially if the candidate has good academic credentials. Just ask Bubba.

(I kid, because I don't really think you can much about who gets nominated, other than maybe hope and/or pray that the really bad ones shoot themselves in the foot.)

2. And he will do so again, when his primary opponents air some of that footage or get media to air it.
It's going to make Dean's whoop look like a doctoral dissertation.
