Monk
I've been watching Monk, which alternates between boring/predictable and very funny. Funny enough to keep me watching, anyway. Well, lo and behold season 6, eps 1 flashed a shot of my local (and favorite of all time) hardware store. In fact, I'm surprised they didn't catch a shot of me in front of it since I practically live there.

The series amuses me since it supposedly takes place in San Francisco. There are certainly location shots in SF, but most of it is shot in L.A. (Having lived in SoCal, been on the periphery of the film business and knowing favorite shooting locations, I can pretty much recognize landmarks in both areas.) And for some unknown reason, the hardware store was shot in the Napa Valley with the rest of the episode probably shot in L.A. Apparently some of the episodes at least the earlier seasons, were shot in New Jersey, which accounts for the prevalence of Joisey accents.

I sometimes enjoy picking out the locations more than the show itself.

1. I know exactly what you mean.
I live in LA but grew up in the Bay Area. So, yeah. I totally see it.

And it's totally predicatble. I don't consider it a great mystery show, but more of a comedy. Tony Shalhoub is hysterical and I much prefer Natalie to Sharona, as I think Sharona was a bit hard on Monk. I love the cast and they have some fun guest stars, especially Sarah Silverman. Her episode was just way too funny. That girl always cracks me up!

2. Yeah, once Traylor settled into the role
there was great rapport between her and Tony. And he does crack me up. His body language is amazing.

4. I fell out of my chair when I first read that. Can you imagine how bad Monk would have been?
:scary:

5. I love Monk. Shalhoub is excellent.
I pretty much agree it is kind of predictable but I watch it more for the characters. I'm more of a Sharona fan than Natalie, but she has her place too. I could watch that show over and over and over....oh I already do. :P
