Inside Job *****
All I can say is, it certainly deserved the oscar.

This movie was made on a (relative) shoestring. One interview was conducted with only the camera and sound persons and Skype. They took a movie full of talking head and made it interesting and beautiful by interspersing fabulous helicopter shots of Iceland and New York. You will love to watch squirm the few banksters who agreed to be interviewed. They obviously had no idea exactly what the movie was about until they were well into the interview, and then it was too late to back out. Documentary making at its best.

Inside Job
2010 PG-13 108 minutes
From filmmaker Charles Ferguson comes this sobering, Oscar-winning documentary that presents in comprehensive yet cogent detail the pervasive and deep-rooted corruption that led to the global economic meltdown of 2008. Through unflinching interviews with key financial insiders, politicos, journalists and academics, Ferguson paints a galling portrait of an unfettered financial system run amok -- without accountability. Actor Matt Damon narrates.

Cast:Matt Damon Director:Charles Ferguson Genres:Documentary, Social & Cultural Documentaries, Political Documentaries, Blu-ray, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment This movie is:Cerebral, Dark Format:DVD and Blu-ray

1. Can't wait to see this.
Can't fricking wait. Of course, for the DVD it's a long wait. I may have to stop by Blockbuster...

4. Maybe you were one of the smart ones.
I got a lame leftover George Clooney effort in the meantime.

I have little or no faith in Netflix's delivery of physical media. They're known to fuck with people on that score.

and they sent it as soon sit was available.

Sherlock is due next. Had it waiting at the top of the queue ever since I heard of it.

6. We watched it tonight. Can't believe how angry my wife and I are.
Transcends political parties, really. I will consider Geitner and Summers (amongst others) with greater awareness (and amazement at the hubris). Too angry to make any further coherent comments...

:banghead:

Great, important, well made movie.

7. I just watched it . I'm trembling with anger and rage.
This is a must see. Please recommend it to your friends. We should talk about it whenever you can to make more people aware.

8. Received the Blu-ray disc Friday ...
... watched it last night (Saturday, April 2).

Very well done and very informative. I've read a lot of the books on the housing/derivatives bubble crash and this movie does an excellent job of distilling the rather complicated financial shenanigans so that average folks can better understand what happened.

For me, however, to be reminded of the fact that the Obama administration adopted the Bush policies toward the banksters, to see Larry Summers and Timmy Geithner and the list of Goldman Sachs alumni populating the economic team, well ... it's just tragic.

The Democrats need to get serious about the fate of the nation and find a new nominee for president in 2012. It is so disheartening to hear in the movie that Obama is a "status quo" president. We cannot survive as a democracy with the "status quo".

Again, a good, even-handed movie ... but it won't make you think any better of Bush and it won't make you feel good about Obama.

9. It is sitting right here, can't bring myself to watch.
I have been so angry every day, I needed a break. But I plan to watch this weekend and get back on that anger train. Also, about the Netflix queue, it was at the top of my list with a "very long wait" so I expected to get the next movie on the list, but Inside Job came, so no wait at all for me.
