70sEraVet's JournalI know that many DU members are veterans
I just sent a Facebook message to the American Legion National Headquarters, asking the leadership to make a public statement
"condemning the shameful actions of Donald Trump and his crew that accompanied him to Arlington National Cemetery" for the purpose of a partisan campaign stunt.
I will follow that up with a similar letter.
I would encourage fellow veterans to write to: VFW, DAV or American Legion.
Hopefully, leaders of those organizations will stand up for the sanctity of our fallen fellow veterans!

The people are good. Most of their politicians.....
Hate to post something from Trump's truthsocial, but he really screwed up
An old friend of mine, and a strong Democrat, sent me this image, saying that Taylor Swift won't be happy that Trump posted it on his truth social page. I held my nose, and went on truth social, and did find the image on his page.
I'm hoping that she'll be so pissed off, that she asks the DNC to let her on the stage for a few minutes!!
There are currently 60 living Medal of Honor recipients.
I wonder how many of them are sickened at the thought that a former US President, a former Commander-in-Chief of military forces, considers an award that he presented to one of the largest donors to the Republican Party, to be a higher honor than the Medal that they received?
I wonder how many of them will vote Harris/Walz this fall?

"New book sparks investigation into unsolved bombings from Nashville's
Desegregation Years"
Mayor Freddie OConnell announced July 13 that he asked the Metro Nashville Police Department to assign an investigator in the departments cold case unit to lead investigations into the bombings of Hattie Cotton Elementary School, the Jewish Community Center and the home of city council member and prominent civil rights attorney Z. Alexander Looby between 1957 and 1960.
....
OConnell made the announcement at the book launch of Dynamite Nashville: Unmasking the FBI, the KKK and the Bombers Beyond Their Control by Betsy Phillips, a writer, historian and columnist for the Nashville Scene.
.....
The Confederate Underground, a secret network of terrorists with ties to the Ku Klux Klan throughout the South pushing back against integration and the Civil Rights Movement, was likely the group behind the attacks, she said. Phillips said her book also shows how the FBI appears to have been involved to varying degrees in some of the bombings, including being warned ahead of time of the attacks and not cooperating in local polices investigations.
For those Fox personalities who have complained of Biden's D-Day speech --
that he was taking 'veiled shots at Trump', even though he never mentioned Trump's name, I'm reminded of an old yiddish joke:
In Russia in the old days, three Jewish farmers are brought before the District Judge on the very serious charges of slandering the Czar. The judge reads off the report, that they were overheard in a tavern by the Police Captain talking about the Czar using very insulting terms. One of the Jews spoke up, trying to sound as convincing as he could. "No, your Honor. We weren't speaking about the Czar -- we were talking about the no-good Emperor of the Hapsburgs!"
The Judge looked sympathetic. "Oh, I understand, and I'm sorry that you were brought in. But it was an honest mistake. When the Captain heard 'Liar, theif, and degenerate', naturally he thought you were talking about the Czar."
The history of Jones County in a movie!
I watched the movie 'Free State of Jones', and, fascinated by the historical events portrayed in the film, found this article:
In the spring of 1864, the Knight Company overthrew the Confederate authorities in Jones County and raised the United States flag over the county courthouse in Ellisville. The county was known as the Free State of Jones, and some say it actually seceded from the Confederacy. This little-known, counterintuitive episode in American history has now been brought to the screen in Free State of Jones, directed by Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, The Hunger Games) and starring a grimy, scruffed-up Matthew McConaughey as Newton Knight.

Arming teachers, Tax breaks for corporations, war on women and trans kids!
Tennessees Republican-dominated legislature passed a litany of starkly conservative laws this year, ceding little quarter to gun control advocates and democracy activists calling for moderation. Among the more strident bills passed last month was a measure to allow teachers to arm themselves in class. Though the new law allows school districts to opt out of the policy, its passage came despite howls of contempt raining down from the galleries from gun control advocates who have been pressing for change following the Covenant Sschool mass shooting of 2023.

On the bright side, legislation to pass universal private school vouchers failed!
Trump declares "the Republican Party is 'getting rid of the Romneys'"
Seems he forced Ronna McDaniel out of the RNC Chair, and he harbors a deep resentment for Mitt Romney.

My question is, will this 'strategy' cause him to lose Utah in the General Election (if he can delay his trials long enough to MAKE it to the General Election)?
On a whim, I just searched Youtube for: 'Because Orange Jesus tells me so'.
I found this gem, and felt it was worth sharing!
