And if reporters report objectively on Trump's assault on Democracy,

they will not have their visas renewed.

August 28, 2025

Nope. Increase taxes. Don't act like there shouldn't be

a VAT tax or greater income tax. It is all manageable. The EU does it. Canada does. Republicans like PE in hospitals because it will result in more people dying and so not Medicare or social security beneficiaries so much. Again. Efficiency in government. Kill off many. Fewer people to vote for a middle class way of life.

August 28, 2025

The hospitals are failing because the most efficient way to treat people is universal healthcare.

That means the costs are less for the local state. Universal healthcare is both more efficient and covers more people than private healthcare. If you cut out the market, outcomes are better.

Private Equity has been selling efficiency vs. quality. The CEO

gets a good bonus or the head(s) of the PE get to keep every profit over 8% per year so there is great incentive to run the business, or entity into the ground so there is more profit for them in the short term. The investors get the first 8%. Somehow we managed to live happily as a society before workers were told they were not allowed bathroom breaks till lunch, so they couldn't have a coffee in the morning. It was the 20th Century and most people did better than the centuries before. It is lack of quality of life that is going on too for workers as well as the customers/clients. Everyone's quality of life goes down as things are made more efficient. Except the ceos, investors in the private equity and the head of the PE.

Progressive income tax, vat tax for public healthcare,

and climate change mitigation laws because that will blow up the budget. Canada's rich pay 2% more in income taxes then in the US but we have vat taxes to pay for a lot of reasonable programs on top of income tax. It is not charged on food and poor people get a check 4 times a year. Send your kid to the mall with $100? That haircut will cost $107. Done!!!!!

We used to say government steps in when markets fail. But Trump and his MAGA braintrust

want markets in healthcare to fail. They want markets for renewable energy to fail. They want a failed middle class.

August 24, 2025

It worked for days in a row. He took some real estate

(pardon the pun) from Trump. He nicked the 'untouchable' Trump repeatedly. That is how to do it then people want to roll up their sleeves and take action daily to fight. It is not blood lust on the part of democrats but a desire for a just country and a leader who can dominate Trump that makes people 'git her done' (for 3.5 years straight). Everyone will have to be mobilized. Like WWII (that wasn't about bloodlust on the part of those fighting Hitler, it was what needed to be done and Churchill dominated and led the way).

Here is HCR:

Those who supported Trump from a belief that he would protect American business from state interference received yet another example of Snyder’s point today when Trump boasted that the government has taken a 10% stake in Intel, which builds semiconductors and chips. Trump says he intends to take similar stakes in other companies.

Applegrove:

Maybe Trump is going to build a sovergn wealth fund, that won't be used for anything like social security or Healthcare that have to do with the regular congressional budget, but will grow into the billions and then Trump can to dole it out to his cronies and build up ICE and prisons and and other crony authoritarian things. I wonder too about where the tariff money will go?

Because there are no jobs, and minimum wages have not risen

for 25 years, and AI is coming for jobs, and there are few union jobs, low wages will fight inflation in a way they didn't when they were based on unions in the 1980's stagflation. So wages will stay low while tariffs raise the cost of goods. People in the growing working class will see their disposable income go down. How nice for the rich who spend less on goods and don't like inflation because it eats away at their wealth. Leopards eat the faces of Trump voters. And everyone else who is not rich. Prices rising will give ceos the opportunity to raise prices even on products not affected by the tariffs like the pharmaceutical companies do. Once again their is a transfer of wealth from the middle class to the rich. I thought Trump's tariffs would result in stagflation that everyone across the country would have to fight inflation together. Now it looks like it is more class warfare: the point being to grow the number of poor people and reduce the size of the middle class.

President Trump praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel as a “war hero” for ordering his country’s forces to bombard Iran’s nuclear sites — and then said that the same label should apply to himself, the New York Times reports.

Said Trump: “He’s a war hero, because we work together. He’s a war hero. I guess I am too,” he added.

Applegrove: someone tell the war hero that people who give arms to a country that is starving another, don't get the Nobel Prize.
