Sorry but I am all out of freebies from the Miami paper.
The owner now wants DeSantis's help from what I gather from these comments.
According to the owner these are long time employees --and are considered part of his family.
I doubt DeSantis will help him IMHO.

Hispanic restaurant owner Richard Gonzmart is a Republican who voted for DeSantis. Now hes panicking because DeSantis new immigration law forced him to fire 19 members of his staff and pay a $500k fine because they are undocumented.
Richard Gonzmart, owner of the iconic Columbia Restaurant chain based Tampa, said the family-owned company has treated employees as part of the restaurant family. He now wants protections for migrants who have been in this country for years.

Vice President Harris announces final rules mandating minimum standards for nursing home staffing
Source: wbay.com
By ADRIANA GOMEZ LICON Apr. 22, 2024 at 12:51 PM CDT|Updated: 7 hours ago
..................................
Vice President Kamala Harris announced the final rules on Monday before a trip to La Crosse, Wisconsin, where she will talk to nursing home care employees. In the battleground state, Harris also will hold a campaign event focused on abortion rights.
...................
The new rules implement a minimum number of hours that staff members spend with residents. They also require a registered nurse to be available around the clock at the facilities, which are home to about 1.2 million people. The rules dictate that 80% of Medicaid payments for home care providers go to workers wages....................
.......................
The new rules call for staffing equivalent to 3.48 hours per resident per day, just over half an hour of it coming from registered nurses. The government said that means a facility with 100 residents would need two or three registered nurses and 10 or 11 nurse aides as well as two additional nurse staff per shift to meet the new standards.
The average U.S. nursing home already has overall caregiver staffing of about 3.6 hours per resident per day, including RN staffing just above the half-hour mark, but the government said a majority of the countrys roughly 15,000 nursing homes would have to add staff under the new regulation.........................
The government will allow the rules to be introduced in phases with longer timeframes for nursing homes in rural communities and temporary exemptions for places with workforce shortages...........................

Our VP has a difficult job --in that nursing homes are hard to staff--and hard to keep staff.

Trump wanted to ban TicTok when Pres; Now he claims "Just so everyone knows...Biden is responsible for banning TikTok
Donald Trump spent much of the last year of his presidency trying to ban TikTok.
Heres what he said on July 31, 2020: "As far as TikTok is concerned, we're banning them from the United States."
Trump today: Just so everyone knows Biden is responsible for banning TikTok.
Why did Trump flip-flopped on TikTok? Trump recently met with Jeff Yass, a megadonor with a $33 billion stake in TikTok.
A few days later, Trump announced he changed his mind and hes now against a TikTok ban. Yass is also the biggest institutional shareholder of the shell company that recently merged with Trumps social media company.

BREAKING: Judge Merchan drops a bombshell on Donald Trump in his criminal hush money trial, reveals a slew of damaging information that prosecutors can mention.
This is it the worst case scenario for Trump...
If Trump takes the stand, the judge has ruled that prosecutors can mention six crucial court determinations from four different proceedings.
1. The $354.9 million fraud case he lost in New York in February for inflating his net worth.
2. Trump was fined $5,000 for refusing to remove a lie-riddled post about a law clerk.
3. He was fined $10,000 for violating a court order by smearing a court clerk.
4. He lost his first E. Jean Carroll defamation case for $5 million. The jury ruled that he defamed and sexually abused her.
5. Trump lost a second defamation against Carroll after he smeared her again. He owes $83.3 million.
6. The case New York Attorney General Letitia James brought against him that showed that the Trump Organization repeatedly engaged in fraud.
Any single one of these would be devastating if mentioned in front of a jury. All of them presented together would be an utter disaster for Trump. They prove that he is a habitual, unrepentant criminal..............

Trump lawyer defends $175 million bond in New York civil fraud case
Source: reuters
April 22, 20249:51 AM CDTUpdated a min ago
NEW YORK, April 22 (Reuters) - A lawyer for Donald Trump tried to convince a judge on Monday that the insurer that provided the former U.S. president with a $175 million bond in his New York civil fraud case was empowered and strong enough to issue the guarantee.
The bond issued by Knight Specialty Insurance is meant to secure Trump's compliance with a $454.2 million judgment won by state Attorney General Letitia James if he does not succeed in an appeal.
.
....................
Knight is owned by billionaire Trump supporter Don Hankey.
At a hearing, Trump's lawyer Christopher Kise assured Engoron that Trump couldn't move money out of the account without Knight's approval, and Schwab would not allow it. "We have to put the money somewhere," Kise said.
Engoron, however, questioned the security of the collateral.
"You keep using the word agreement, what if they break the agreement?" he asked. "It all seems like a house of cards."
..................
James said in court papers that a Trump-owned trust still controls the account, and Knight's own financial arrangements appear insufficient to cover the amount of the bond.............................
