snow "Kangaroomen"
I knew Australia had snow--but just a bit every now and then-- but seems--by the comments very unusual for the amount and for parts of Aussi land.
I have not seen a kangaroo 'snowman' before. Delightful to see.

Texas AI centers guzzle 463 million gallons, now residents are asked to cut back on showers
So let me get this straight Texans need to cut back on showering because Microsofts Stargate AI data center in Abilene needs the water?
Did Americans vote for showering less so they can get an AI technocracy in return?

Texas AI centers guzzle 463 million gallons, now residents are asked to cut back on showers
Texas AI data centers water usage: Amid the ongoing worsening drought condition in Texas, the State's residents face an unexpected water dilemma: while communities are urged to conserve every drop, even cutting back on simple showers, massive new AI data centers are quietly using millions of gallons daily to keep their operations running, as per a report.
Microsofts Stargate Campus Leads the AI Data Center Boom
Microsofts Stargate campus in Abilene is leading a surge in data center construction, promising to become one of the worlds largest hubs supporting advanced artificial intelligence technology, as per a report by Techie + Gamers.
Experts Stress the Industrial Scale of Data Center Water Use
The scale of water use is massive, as the Texas Water Development Board projections estimate that data centers in the state will consume 49 billion gallons of water in 2025, soaring to nearly 400 billion gallons by 2030, as per Techie + Gamers report. Thats about 7% of Texass total projected water use, according to the report.

Republican senators raise concerns about Trump's firing of Labor Dept. official
Source: nbc
Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics Friday after the agency released a jobs report that showed a significant slowdown in hiring in the U.S.
Updated Aug. 1, 2025, 7:44 PM CDT Brennan Leach and Raquel Coronell Uribe
.............
Several Republicans told NBC News that they would take issue with the firing of Erika McEntarfer, the commissioner of the BLS, if it is the result of Trump disliking the jobs report numbers, which showed the U.S. job market in the past months has been considerably weaker than previously thought.
Trump defended his decision Friday, saying without evidence that the reports numbers were phony and accused McEntarfer of releasing favorable jobs numbers before the election to give former Vice President Kamala Harris an edge.
Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wy., said if the data is untrustworthy, the public should find out, but firing the commissioner before knowing whether the numbers are inaccurate is kind of impetuous.
If the president is firing the statistician because he doesnt like the numbers but they are accurate, then thats a problem, Lummis said. Its not the statisticians fault if the numbers are accurate and that theyre not what the president had hoped for.................
Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., blasted Trumps decision to fire McEntarfer as well.
If she was just fired because the president or whoever decided to fire the director just did it because they didnt like the numbers, they ought to grow up, Tillis said...........

Seems to me that the officer was more concerned about checking his pockets than seeking help for an unconscious man!!
A post below says The Gov asked the Louisiana police to come work here.
I know nothing about that or if it is true.
But I do know that if a person is unconscious you don't jerk him around like the officer did.

Good god. Does anyone know how this fellow is doing? That looks like a very serious head injury, and no matter the infraction, it was clear he wan not struggling one bit again that cruel and poorly trained cop. Completely unnecessary. Maybe good cops are not a thing, even in the minority, anymore.

Today is the last day for many Education Department workers. Here's what they did

..............These employees performed a wide range of jobs, from safeguarding students' civil rights to helping borrowers navigate a bewildering federal student loan system.
Nearly 1,400 department workers are being fired as part of a broad reduction in force (RIF) that began on March 11. Days later, when President Trump signed an executive order to dismantle the Education Department, he said, "We're going to be returning education, very simply, back to the states where it belongs."
He also claimed that many department employees "don't work at all" and that "we want to cut the people that aren't working or are not doing a good job."
Trump's education secretary, Linda McMahon, called the mass firing "a significant step toward restoring the greatness of the United States education system."
...............
To mark their departure, half a dozen department workers spoke with NPR, eager to tell their side of this story about the work they did and why they think it matters.
David Downey, Office of Grants Management, 30 years of service
The Education Department sends billions of dollars to states to help pay for public education. Downey's role was to help state and local officials understand how to apply for that money and then "ensure that they're using taxpayer dollars properly. That's where I hang my hat."
Downey says he served Democratic and Republican administrations, ...........

Scientists slam Trump administration climate report as a 'farce' full of misinformation
Source: msn.com
Story by Dharna Noor and Oliver Milman 6h 6 min read
A new Trump administration report which attempts to justify a mass rollback of environmental regulations is chock-full of climate misinformation, experts say.
On Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a proposal to undo the 2009 endangerment finding, which allows the agency to limit planet-heating pollution from cars and trucks, power plants and other industrial sources. Hours later, the Department of Energy (DOE) published a 150-page report defending the proposal, claiming scientific concern about the climate crisis is overblown.
Climate change is a challenge not a catastrophe, wrote the energy secretary, Chris Wright, in the reports introduction.
The esteemed climate scientist Michael Mann said the report was akin to the result he would expect if you took a chatbot and you trained it on the top 10 fossil fuel industry-funded climate denier websites.
The energy department published the report hours after the EPA announced a plan to roll back 2009s endangerment finding, a seminal ruling that provided the legal basis for the agency to regulate climate-heating pollution under the Clean Air Act. If finalized, the move would topple virtually all US climate regulation.

She said federal agents arrested everyone in the home...........
Caceres was in custody Thursday and is due to be deported. The family said they have an attorney.
