scipan's JournalThis is the most opaque election I have seen in my 75 years.
I can't understand why it's so close.
In the past, I have been rather trusting of the voters in general; polls showed that most people could be nuanced and of course knew the basic facts like which candidate stands for what. Even when Dems lost it still made some sense, i.e., frustration with their finances and blamed the party in charge, or frustration with the federal government in general because of the gridlock: nothing ever gets done.
This one, I don't know what most people believe anymore. Seems like the lies have been believed by many, and I mean not Trumpers. Or, the economy? Still feeling the past inflation?
I would love to hear from anyone who has knocked on doors this election. All I read is from true believers from both sides.
Does anyone have more insight than me (obviously yes)?

Gist is that immigration is a problem for right wingers and their belief in the "great replacement" theory. TSF is getting more blatantly racist the more he feels like he is losing. I haven't seen this kind of talk on the show much, until I think last week when the double standard of how Kamala vs TSF is covered in the MSM was brought up.
I'm getting to like the moderator Jeffrey Goldberg, who I pegged as a traditional conservative.

Rest in peace, Lord Vader

Rick Wilson on Stephen Miller. Pretty funny.
https://x.com/TheRickWilson/status/1821311815185211886Michael Ian Black: Why do they keep putting Stephen Miller on TV to defend against the "weird" charges? Was Nosferatu not available?
Rick Wilson: The real problem is every day he has to sleep in a coffin filled with the soil of his native country, which makes TV hits really difficult.
Tired of this amorphous threat; how would it work exactly, besides sowing chaos?
Here's the electoral college part of the Constitution:
The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President.

The Electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate;the President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted; The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice. [And if the House of Representatives shall not choose a President whenever the right of choice shall devolve upon them, before the fourth day of March next following, then the Vice-President shall act as President, as in case of the death or other constitutional disability of the President.]The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed, and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President; a quorum for the purpose shall consist of two-thirds of the whole number of Senators, and a majority of the whole number shall be necessary to a choice. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

So I read that as if a state doesn't certify, the state won't be counted and the majority is adjusted to be half+1 of all the electoral college votes actually certified and sent.
From 270towin.com, Harris has 230 and TCF has 235 without the battleground states including GA. If GA goes red it's 230 - 251. So she would need 21 more electoral votes certified, basically 2 states bigger than NV (7).
What am I missing? I don't think it's a great strategy of theirs, it's too iffy.
ETA:
Nuts and bolts (from the 2020 election):
Votes and Filing Certificates of Ascertainment
Following election day, the states are to count and certify
popular vote results according to their respective statutory
and procedural requirements. When the states have
completed their vote counts and ascertained the official
results, the U.S. Code (3 U.S.C. §6) requires the state
governors to prepare, as soon as practicable, documents
known as Certificates of Ascertainment of the vote. The
certificates must list the names of the electors chosen by the
voters and the number of votes received in the popular
election results, also the names of all losing candidates for
elector, and the number of votes they received. Certificates
of Ascertainment, which are often signed by state
governors, must carry the seal of the state. One copy is
forwarded to the Archivist of the United States(theArchivist), while six duplicates of the Certificate of
Ascertainment must be provided to the electors by
December 14, the date on which they meet.
December 8, 2020: The Safe Harbor Deadline
The U.S. Code (3 U.S.C. §5) provides that if election
results are contested in any state, and if the state, prior to
election day, has enacted procedures to settle controversies
or contests over electors and electoral votes, and if these
procedures have been applied, and the results have been
determined six days before the electors meetings, then
these results are considered to be conclusive, and will apply
in the counting of the electoral votes. This date, known as
the Safe Harbor deadline, falls on December 8 in 2020.
The governor of any state where there was a contest, and in
which the contest was decided according to established
state procedures, is required (3 U.S.C. §6) to send a
certificate describing the form and manner by which the
determination was made to the Archivist as soon as
practicable.
