☦️ Eastern Orthodox Christianity - View of Hannah in the Old Testament

In the Orthodox Christian tradition, Hannah, the mother of the prophet Samuel, is revered as a model of fervent faith, humility, and unwavering trust in God. Her story, particularly her persistent prayer for a child and her subsequent dedication of Samuel to God, is seen as a powerful example of spiritual devotion and a testament to God's faithfulness.

A Type of the Church: Some Orthodox interpretations see Hannah as a type of the Church, both Jewish and Christian. Her barrenness can be seen as representing the initial state of the Church, while her fruitfulness symbolizes the Church's growth and expansion. Her prayer for a son, who is then dedicated to God, can be seen as a prefigurement of the Virgin Mary's role in bringing forth Jesus, the ultimate gift to humanity.
