This sounds like something out of The Onion, but Republican House representatives Tom Tiffany and Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin and Brad Finstad, Michelle Fischbach, Pete Stauber and Tom Emmer of Minnesota all signed their names to it. "A handful of Republican dumbasses from the good old US of A are blaming Canada for wildfire smoke entering their country," begins the video above.
Canadian wildfire smoke is travelling south and making it difficult for some Americans to enjoy their summer, according to a letter from six members of Congress to Canada's U.S. ambassador.

'World has to burn': Trump scorched over new tariff on Canada

The internet collectively groaned Thursday night as President Donald Trump announced his plan to slap a 35% tariff on products from Canada.
Trump posted on his Truth Social platform a copy of a letter addressed to Prime Minister Mark Carney, writing that it was a "Great Honor" for him to send the letter, because it "demonstrates the strength and commitment of our Trading Relationship, and the fact that the United States of America has agreed to continue working with Canada, despite Canada having financially retaliated against the United States."
"As you will recall, the United States imposed Tariffs on Canada to deal with our Nation’s Fentanyl crisis, which is caused, in part, by Canada’s failure to stop the drugs from pouring into our Country. Instead of working with the United States, Canada retaliated with its own Tariffs," he added.

Republican senators are increasingly on edge as whispers circulate that Iowa’s Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) may bow out before the 2026 Senate elections. Though she has taken early campaign steps — such as hiring a manager and setting up her fall fundraiser — internal GOP sources say many of her colleagues fear she’ll opt not to run, creating another seat Republicans will have to fiercely defend, Politico reported Thursday.
Party leaders and strategists are closely monitoring her fundraising report next week. Ernst pulled in just over $1 million in Q1 2025— a respectable haul, but not overwhelming for an incumbent in a competitive race, per the report.
Ernst’s spokesperson sidestepped decisiveness, emphasizing her Senate work: “making Washington ‘squeal,’ making President Trump’s historic tax cuts permanent… and advancing a strong [National Defense Authorization Act].”

'Monstrosity!' Trump threatens Republicans who defy his crusade on public media

President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account on Thursday to demand Republican lawmakers fall in line over his legislation to cut back funding for public broadcasting.
"It is very important that all Republicans adhere to my Recissions Bill and, in particular, DEFUND THE CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING (PBS and NPR), which is worse than CNN & MSDNC put together," wrote Trump. "Any Republican that votes to allow this monstrosity to continue broadcasting will not have my support or Endorsement. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
PBS and NPR are primarily funded by listener contributions and corporate sponsorships; however, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is a key source of funding for affiliate stations around the country to carry their content, and its defunding could lead to the closure of several stations in low-income and low-population areas that already have few local media options.

Experts scrambling to understand losses in hives across the country are finally identifying the culprits. And the damage to farmed bees is a sign of trouble for wild bees too
Bret Adee is one of the largest beekeepers in the US, with 2 billion bees across 55,000 hives. The business has been in his family since the 1930s, and sends truckloads of bees across the country from South Dakota, pollinating crops such as almonds, onions, watermelons and cucumbers.
Last December, his bees were wintering in California when the weather turned cold. Bees grouped on top of hives trying to keep warm. “Every time I went out to the beehive there were less and less,” says Adee. “Then a week later, there’d be more dead ones to pick up … every week there is attrition, just continually going down.”
Adee went on to lose 75% of his bees. “It’s almost depressingly sad,” he says. “If we have a similar situation this year – I sure hope we don’t – then we’re in a death spiral.”

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer told Fox News that American citizens are willing to do those jobs "illegal migrants are doing" to defend Trump's destruction of Medicaid and his mass deportations by using the Apprenticeship Programs as proof. I don't see "strawberry picking" or any other labor-intensive jobs offered through Apprenticeship, do you?
Earlier today on Fox & Friends First, the network used a figure from the Labor Department touting US-born worker increases that don't shed light on what jobs US-born citizens are taking to support Trump's agenda.
Yet, this fueled the claim that Americans are willing to work backbreaking jobs in the fields for low wages, according to Fox News.

He accompanied it with the explainer, “When lower courts blocked Trump admin policies, SCOTUS intervened on an emergency basis to lift those orders in 77% of cases. For the Biden administration, that number was 0%.
Even worse, Bonica points out that all the nationwide injunctions blocking Biden administration policies were issued by Republican-appointed judges. Those blocking the Trump administration were issued by a bipartisan set of judges.
The MAGA Supreme Court is not calling “balls and strikes,” as Chief Justice John Roberts claims. It’s a huge majority of “balls” for the Republican felon and 100% strikes for his Democratic predecessor.

'It's miserable:' ICE 'morale in crapper' as agents forced to 'arrest gardeners'

As Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents embark on countless deportation raids in an effort to meet the White House’s daily arrest quota of 3,000, many officers are becoming completely demoralized, several agents told Nick Miroff with The Atlantic.
“Morale is in the crapper,” a former ICE agent told Miroff on the condition of anonymity out of fear of repercussions. “Even those that are gung ho about the mission aren’t happy with how they are asking to execute it – the quotas and the shift to the low-hanging fruit to make the numbers.”
President Donald Trump, along with nearly all Republican members of Congress, recently gave ICE a staggering bump in its budget in the budget reconciliation package known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The bill increased annual spending for the agency to $37.5 billion, making ICE’s budget higher than the military budgets of all but 15 countries, including the United States.

Top Trump aide caught using shadowy site to launch 'McCarthy-like' effort

President Donald Trump's top aide was caught using a shadowy website to track pro-Palestinian academics for deportation, Politico reported on Wednesday.
According to court documents Politico retrieved, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller admitted to using a website called Canary Mission to find information about the academics that could be used to revoke their visas. Details about how Miller used the information remain under seal after the White House asserted executive privilege, Politico reported.
Critics have accused Canary Mission of using "McCarthy-like tactics" to target pro-Palestinian academics because it uses thin and sometimes scant evidence to paint them as anti-semitic, according to Politico.

Militia fueled by bizarre conspiracy theory brings down weather radars

A militia known as the "Veterans on Patrol" aims to dismantle weather radars, and KWTV News 9 has discovered that it's part of a larger conspiracy theory surrounding weather manipulation.
Amid false conspiracies about the floods in Texas being part of a kind of cloud seeding attack, organization founder Michael Lewis Arthur Meyer confirmed to News 9 that they were "absolutely" working to target Oklahoma radars.
The comments come "days after an individual vandalized News 9’s weather radar," the report said.
