Watters: Harris Buying Black Vote With 'Welfare Checks' And 'A Blunt'

Geez, why doesn't Fox News ask the KKK to weigh in, too?

By Conover Kennard — October 16, 2024
Fox News's racist assclown Jesse Watters has been getting desperate as his hero's mental decline gets more and more apparent during rallies and interviews.

Media Matters reports that Watters called it "welfare checks."

'Black men have been asking, "How are you going to make my life better? Because my life was better under Trump,"' he said. "So Kamala, after four years of doing nothing, just came out with a plan for Black men: legalize weed and $20,000 welfare checks."

Revealed: Bundy collaborator fueled FEMA conspiracy in Hurricane Helene aftermath

Written by Jordan Green and Raw Story October 14, 2024

Only 30 minutes after billionaire Elon Musk began publicly accusing the federal government of blocking his company from delivering the satellite internet components to the disaster zone in western North Carolina, another extraordinary claim popped up on X.

“NC State Police issue statement that they will start arresting any federal employees trying to hinder rescue operations,” an Arizona man named Joseph O’Shaughnessy wrote on X Oct. 4.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, quickly disputed the claim from Musk, who owns both SpaceX and the social media platform X and would speak at Trump’s rally in Butler, Pa. the following day. But O’Shaughnessy’s claim piggy-backing off Musk's post added a new layer to manufactured intrigue: a potential clash between state and federal authorities in a region traumatized by the staggering loss.

Insurance is failing hurricane survivors: 'People thought they were covered'

By Lauren Aratani in New York
Published Sat 12 Oct 2024 06.00 EDT

As millions of US residents begin working to file insurance claims on their homes in the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, many could be denied, particularly if their homes were damaged by flooding.

A quirk in the US home insurance market is that flood insurance is separate from typical home insurance, which usually covers wind damage from hurricanes but not flooding. Homeowners must purchase flood insurance separately if they want their homes protected against flooding.

And many don’t. In some areas where Hurricane Helene hit the hardest, less than 1% of homes had flood insurance when the storm hit. In Buncombe county in North Carolina, home to Asheville, only 0.9% of homes had flood insurance, according to data from the Insurance Information Institute.

David Gilmour review - astonishing, goosebump-inducing solos

The Observer
David Gilmour

Sat 12 Oct 2024 09.00 EDT

The 78-year-old Pink Floyd veteran David Gilmour has had a busy few weeks. He’s been promoting his first solo album since 2015, Luck and Strange, with shows booked for Rome, LA and New York. He’s cashed out the rights to Pink Floyd’s name, likeness and albums for a share of $400m, wisely keeping the publishing – so he’ll still get paid for covers of the songs he wrote.

There have been shots fired at ex-bandmate Roger Waters (“I tend to steer clear of people who actively support genocidal and autocratic dictators like Putin,” Gilmour remarked drily); a surprise appearance during his youngest offspring Romany’s set in a Brighton pub. And a more unexpected collaboration with rapper Ice-T’s heavy metal outfit Body Count on a vicious version of Floyd classic Comfortably Numb. Perhaps one day he’ll return the favour and cover Body Count’s KKK Bitch.

Gilmour may not be prolific but he’s never lazy, and has long been attentive to the needs of other musicians, from the days when he tried to help ailing Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett start a solo career after being sacked by the band. Gilmour knows that in another timeline things could have been very different. It’s why his latest album, played almost in full tonight, has “luck” in its title. A lucky boy, born at a lucky time.

Trump Campaign Wants Military Planes For Protection. WAHHH!

He probably ran out of money and wants the U.S. of A. to pay for his campaign travel.

By Susie Madrak — October 13, 2024

Oh dear. All of a sudden, the incredibly brave Orange Man, in the wake of his ENORMOUS ear scratch, wants to be protected as if he were the commander-in-chief. HE ISN'T. Via the Daily Beast:

Donald Trump’s campaign reportedly wants the GOP candidate to travel in military aircraft and vehicles during the final weeks leading up to the election.

He also wants expanded flight restrictions over his residences and rallies, as well as bulletproof glass to be installed ahead of campaign events in battleground states, according to The Washington Post.

Shaye And Ruby Settle Election Defamation Case With Gateway Pundit

Fingers crossed the former election workers smeared by MAGA world get big money and a big apology from Gateway Pundit.

By NewsHound Ellen — October 13, 2024

The terms of the settlement between 2020 election workers Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman, in their defamation case against the right-wing Gateway Pundit site have not been disclosed. But if any plaintiffs deserve a big payout and an equally big apology, it’s these two women.

The lives of good Samaritans Moss and Freeman were almost ruined when Rudy Giuliani falsely accused the women of committing election fraud in an effort to overturn the 2020 election on behalf of now-felon Donald Trump. According to The Washington Post, the Gateway Pundit subsequently amplified the disinformation with 58 defamatory articles.

Now, the ladies have a $148 million judgment against Giuliani they are in the process of collecting.

Sols 4329-4330: Continuing Downhill..........Mars

A post-drive image from NASA's Mars rover Curiosity showcases the rover's two front wheels. The right front wheel is parked on top of a rock, which altered the science team’s plan for the day. This image was taken by the Front Hazard Avoidance Camera (Front Hazcam) aboard Curiosity on sol 4328 — Martian day 4,328 of the Mars Science Laboratory mission — on Oct. 9, 2024, at 02:30:55 UTC.

Earth planning date: Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024

Curiosity is continuing to make good progress downhill along the western edge of the Gediz Vallis channel, allowing us to take another look from a different perspective at this area we've spent many months exploring. The drive from Monday's plan executed as expected, positioning us about 30 meters (about 98 feet) north of our last location. Unfortunately, the rover parked with its right front wheel atop an unstable-looking rock, so we decided to keep the arm stowed rather than risk having the wheel slip with the arm unstowed.

As a consequence, our plan today is all remote sensing, kicking off with a LIBS activity on a bedrock target “Sapphire Lake” and long distance RMI mosaics of “Pinnacle Ridge,” which avid readers may remember was a focus of an imaging campaign while we were still in the channel. Mastcam gets its turn on both Sapphire Lake and Pinnacle Ridge, as well as a Mastcam-exclusive target, “Wuksachi,” to document some rover-disturbed regolith and a wheel-scuffed rock surface. This plan's drive is also in the first sol, which will hopefully bring us nearly 40 meters (about 131 feet) further north, closer to our eventual exit from Gediz Vallis.
