Dogs steal mail carrier's lunch, then their apology note goes viral

In June, Carol Jordan, who owns a five-acre farm in Isle of Wight, Virginia, stopped at her mailbox and discovered a handwritten note there from the woman who delivers her family's mail.

"Our immediate thought was, 'What did the boys do now?'" she told CBS News.

"The boys" in question are Bear and Bull, Jordan's 6-year-old black Labrador/mastiffs, which she and her husband rescued from a high kill shelter in North Carolina as puppies. Bear and Bull are brothers from the same litter, though Jordan notes that Bull -- the smaller one with the white spot on his chest -- is the ringleader when it comes to getting into trouble.

...

The only evidence of the crime? Two small carrots in the grass next to the driveway, where the dogs had spit out the vegetables among their loot.

Michael Cohen tells friends he doesn't think Trump would pardon him

Source: CNN

(CNN)Michael Cohen has recently told friends that he is pessimistic that President Donald Trump will offer him a pardon -- one more indication that Cohen does not believe his former boss will have his back.

In a phone call with a friend several days before he was interviewed by ABC News' George Stephanopoulos last weekend, Cohen -- who was Trump's personal attorney for years and is currently under criminal investigation in New York -- said he did not believe Trump would wipe his slate clean using the presidential pardon. Cohen has not been charged with any wrongdoing.

"I brought up the pardon, and he said, 'I don't think so. I just don't think so,'" Cohen's friend told CNN. "He's certain in his mind that he has been dismissed."

According to the friend, Cohen also said: "I don't know what to think any more."

Inside 'Roe v. Wade': A Disturbing Anti-Abortion Film Featuring Milo Yiannopoulos and Tomi Lahren

Currently shooting in New Orleans, the secretive project—the brainchild of heir Nick Loeb, most famous for his embryo battle with ex Sofia Vergara—has been mired in chaos.

On Tuesday, The Hollywood Reporter published a strange piece about a secretive anti-abortion movie currently filming under a “fake title” in New Orleans.

The story, told primarily from the perspective of the film’s writer-director-producers Nick Loeb and Cathy Allyn, revealed that the title of the project is Roe v. Wade; that it chronicles “the 1973 Supreme Court decision that guaranteed a woman’s right to an abortion”; that it has a “pro-life tilt”; that the conservative pundit Stacey Dash will play Mildred Jefferson, a founder of the National Right to Life Committee; and that several other outspoken conservative actors are portraying Supreme Court justices, including Jon Voight and Robert Davi, along with Corbin Bernsen, John Schneider, Richard Portnow, Wade Williams, William Forsythe, and Steve Guttenberg. Filming reportedly began on June 15 and hopes to wrap by July 15.

THR’s piece also cast the filmmakers as victims, detailing their struggles to secure filming locations and keep ahold of cast and crew who objected to the “PG-rated” film’s “pro-life tilt”—a particularly hot-button issue in light of Justice Kennedy’s recently-announced retirement and the precarious state of Roe v. Wade.

What the THR piece failed to disclose is why the cast and crew of Roe v. Wade have been dropping like flies out of the project, as well as the project's true nature—including several graphic scenes depicting aborted fetuses, according to several crew members who spoke to The Daily Beast on the condition of anonymity, fearing reprisals.

Trump's trade war with China is finally here -- and it won't be pretty, analysts say

BEIJING — Some said the day would never come, that it was all a bluff. But as the Independence Day fireworks cool in Washington, the eve of the trade war has arrived in China’s capital, where government leaders keep reminding people: We did not start this, but we will fight back.

President Trump’s first tariffs are scheduled to hit $34 billion of Chinese imports on Friday, and Beijing plans to swiftly respond with levies on an equal amount of goods. Border officers here could receive the order as early as midnight to slap new taxes on hundreds of American products, including pork, poultry, soybeans and corn.

And so would begin an unprecedented commerce battle between the world’s two largest economies — a conflict analysts fear could rattle markets, cripple trade and undermine ties between the United States and China at a time when the administration seeks Beijing’s cooperation on North Korea.

As the global business community watches the clock, China is moving to pin the fallout on Trump, framing the United States as a bully the Asian nation is forced to confront. A state media editorial this week called America’s “dictatorial bent” a global threat, while officials said China will “absolutely not” take the first swing.
