I'm sure they thought when they banned pot, heroin, and cocaine that the supply in the US would quickly be used up, and that drug abuse would become a thing of the past. Somehow, it didn't quite work out that way.

There are around 300 MILLION firearms total in the US now. Even if we made them all disappear (ignoring the civil liberty aspect of such a move) criminals would still get guns. They can import hundreds if not thousands of tons of drugs each year, they could bring in guns the same way. And guns don't get snorted and consumed like drugs do.

I can't understand how, given the current (mis)administration, ANY sane person could want the government to have an absolute monopoly on the use of force. It just doesn't compute.
