Using the phrase, "those people" does not make one racist. My girlfriend of three years (we just moved into a house we closed on last week) is black. My stepdaughters are black. I AM NOT. Yet I have used the expression "those people." I have said things and used race to describe who I was with.

No one, no one can fucking tell me, that they can hold a conversation with a black or hispanic and be completely unaware that they are holding a conversation with a black or hispanic. That it does not matter what race they are is a beautiful thing, not that you ignore what race they are.

I do not care what race a person is. I never have. There are only two kinds of humans in my world. People who are cool and people who are assholes. Assholes come in all colors, just like humans do.

If someone calls me a greasy, beaner son of a bitch (I am of Mexican and Mescalero Apache descent) I would be insulted. But I would find it silly if a bunch of white people were insulted for me.

It is how a person interacts with other races that makes a racist. Not a couple of words. Bill Clinton is probably the most open about race political figure out there. "Those people" coming from his lips would not make him a racist.
