I wish people would get it throught their thick heads that because of slavery and racism if black people tell the truth of their lives then white people WILL be made to feel uncomfortable. Period.

And believe me, it's been my experience that African Americans know the score. (Yes, there are "conservative" blacks, but fortunately they're a miniscule, deluded, self-hating minority -- altho unusually well exploited by the right.) Their b.s. detectors are supreme. That comes from being an oppressed people for all these centuries. That's what you have to do have to do when you're oppressed, and especially when you're enslaved: know the enemy better than the enemy knows itself. They should be far more prominent throughout our Democratic leadership for this very reason. Again and again I find myself counting on the Congressional Black Caucus to more fully represent me, a white woman, than almost anyone else in Congress.
