despite the much-hyped missile gap & icbms, it turned out we most likely survived the 60s because the soviets lacked sufficient delivery

this is still the case w. most of our enemies today

pakistan & india may seek longer range missiles but they don't seem to have made enough progress to reach the usa

problematical that n. korea could hit us also

rich countries or aspiring countries, russia, china, etc. may or may not be able to deliver, but nuclear war is bad for bidness so they won't

i'd say the biggest danger is not global thermonuclear war but a terrorist w. a more primitive atomic bomb creating panic & havoc

in theory i'm sure pakistan could lob a nuke into afghanistan or iraq but 1) they are pretending to be our allies, 2) too much $$$ & trouble per # of americans taken out, would the bomb retain its horror if it took out a few thousand soldiers & contractors rather than civilian targets

i don't lose much sleep over nuclear war, if it happens on a large scale, it will be because of bungling not because of an intentional decision to take out the usa

not much to be done abt bunglings, the chimps are in charge, but they kept reagan's finger off the button, i'm sure they have a way of restraining the First Crackhead

in my heart i've always believed global thermonuclear war will start by accident & be started by the usa but we seem to have pretty good controls

we did survive the 80s & that's w. Mr. The Missiles Were Launched Five Minutes Ago Alzheimer Victim as our figurehead
