11. Wally Pipp was Lou Gehrig's predecessor at first base
for the Yankees in the early 20's, one night Wally injured himself, and the young Gehrig replaced him, and Gehrig did so well that he stayed at first base for 2130 more games, basically Pipp was an established first man but Gehrig did so well as first baseman for the Yanks that Pipp was replacd by Gehrig.
