In trying to get and stay skinny, she would put herself at risk for bone disintegration as she ages (osteoporosis is one of the costlier burdens on the healthcare system). And she would also wind up with a higher statistical likelihood of developing premenopausal breast cancer.

In my view, the girl in the picture would do well to live reasonably, eat normally, exercise moderately, and stay away from the eating-disordered and their kooky worldview.

I'm really not interested in trying to stamp out thinness, or fatness, or average-weightness. But I'd dearly love to put a big dent in irrationality -- especially the kind that creates pariah groups -- and the misuse of statistics.
