4. The Academy has a great way of rewarding past work.
Overall, I've been satisfied with who has been recognized/not.

Denzel I think got an award for past work, as did Whoopi Goldberg.

Sean Penn was due one, and his role in "Mystic River" afforded that opportunity.

Johnny Depp is due one...Neverland is not the role, though.

I'm enormously irritated at this whole Jamie Foxx thing. Seems kind of a bit much, but in honesty I've not seen either of his nominated films. Just from clips I can tell he did Ray Charles well, but I wonder if mimicry (particularly if you can call up the subject and ask questions) deserves more recognition than going from scratch. Most of the noms are for biopics though...so there's that.

I don't know. He seems like a good guy , and I wouldn't feel badly if he won.
