Its mother fucking incompetence every time. No one's at the wheel assessing the situation and preparing a response. There's not one goddamn reason why Rice as NSA shouldn't have sorted this out. Once again they are a day late and a dollar short, obesessed with the crap game they have going in Iraq and ignoring an opportunity for a masterstroke in the "war on terror". They could have been magnanimous like never before and genuinely altered people's thinking about the USA. That's how diplomacy gets advanced.
