34. This is great, in a somber, gloat-free way
The GOP philosophy is showing itself to be complete self-defeating garbage. Who will Bush try to please? The people who need help, or the people who think needing help is a sign of bad character? Since these are red states, those two groups should have an overlap the size of Texas.

A lot of people who rail against gov't handouts are going to need those same handouts now. They are going to need the same help that they would deny to everyone else in need.

Will Sean Hannity say we have a "nanny society" if the Feds help people in Alabama or Mississippi?

How about this one: "Bad times teach us the lessons we should have learned in good times."
