may see that Kerry's response to this has caused at least some of the media to revolt against swifboating. There was some of that with the raction to Clinton's Fox blow up, but nowere as direct. You have the NYT(among others) with a lead editorial saying that this was a "low" act and really calling him on it. When was the last time any of the papers expressed disgust about the excess smearing which is the Republican norm.

Remember in 2004, that the media didn't even object to Republican delegates wearing purple heart band aids - they simply photographed them. This in effect almost sent a message that they were socially acceptable. That was what Kerry was up against in 2004. I seriously doubt that Feingold, Edwards or Clark would have handled the smearing better. Not because I don't respect them, I do,but because this was a very stacked deck.

Kerry called them out on it - and it looks like they are losing.
