SurveyUSA has polled 60 possible head-to-head matchups for 2008, in all 50 states, and determined the Electoral College outcome (as of now) for these matchups. As they say on their site, some pairings result in landslide victories, others in the closest races since Reconstruction (I think I might have found that one).

You get one for free when you go to the site, and you can click on one state to see the actual percentages of the vote. If you want all of the results, with percentages etc., you have to pay $49. If you want all kinds of detailed inside numbers, you have to pay a lot.

I checked out Edwards vs. McCain, and I think that just might be the closest one since Reconstruction that they were talking about. The result was McCain 272, Edwards 266, only because McCain somehow squeaks out Pennsylvania 44%-41% (I think Edwards would overcome that narrow margin in the real thing). Edwards beats McCain in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

Anybody find any other interesting results?
