I believe his theory is that the plan was that Israel would attack Lebanon, crush Hezbollah, draw in Syria, and get their war on with Iran, and that this wider mideast war would then carry bushco on to victory.

I don't particularly buy into this theory as I don't think Karl is that clever. Anyway this theory doesn't require Hezbollah complicity. The border incident that was Israel's public excuse for their little expedition was just that, a public excuse, and they could have used any similar incident to start their long planned campaign to shock'n'awe hezbollah into extinction.

Karl's big surprise was Death To Saddam, which was rather pathetic.
