Assuming you are not a single-issue person with a different view of that issue, I think if you spent some due diligence studying the guy you would realize what it is that inspires such loyalty.

If all you saw or paid attention to in 2004 was what got through the M$M filter, it is no wonder you weren't inspired. Take a look at media ownership some day, and what has been going on at the FCC. The corporate masters of the M$M have a financial stake in keeping someone like John Kerry from any position of real power. Think that interest might have filtered into their editorial policies?
