3. Looking at the overall data...
... I was shocked to see Germany near the bottom of the list: 15.6 for women and 16.1 for men. I can only assume they prepared seperate stats for Bavaria.

The simple fact of the matter is that all the time people eat ready meals that are loaded with sugar salt and fat, it will have adverse effects on their health. No surprise that the countries at the bottom of the list (i.e. France and Italy) are those with the biggest resistance to fast and convenience food. People still cook with fresh ingredients. Maybe that helps to explain Germany's position. The range of convenience foods here is much smaller

I remember the last time I was back in the UK. I was queueing up at the local Tesco and looked at the basket the guy in front was carrying. Six frozen shepherd's pies and some cans of lager. I was tempted to ask: "Excuse me, mate, do you actually eat any food?"

To quote Spike Milligan: "You are what you eat. That's why the British look like sacks of shit tied up in the middle".
