2. OTHER KEY THINGS TO DO about issue
First, the key issue that needs to be raised in Ohio is a CLASS ACTION suit on behalf of all the voters discouraged from voting by the systematic denial of adequate voting machines in overwhelmingly Democratic precincts. NO RECOUNT ALONE WILL BE SUFFICIENT. In fla 2000 no one filed a class action on behalf of tens of thousands of disenfranchised black voters. The same mistake of focusing on the recount but not on litigating disenfranchisement is being made.

A second thing to do if you live in the area of NY or DC or LA and aren't able to travel to Ohio is to organize protests against the MEDIA LOCKDOWN of votergate 2004. Use public radio, the internet and all other means to get rallies as large and as militant as possible, eg, outside the NY Times. These cities are heavily blue areas far from the contested states, so it provides a means for activism locally for many millions of disaffected Americans. If you can get just 1% of the people living in these areas who think that the election was not honest to come out, you have really got something!
Sending letters of protest say to the Governor of Ohio is a waste of time, unless used to mobilize the press or based on a petition that is simultaneously publicized. Letters of protest to the editors of newspapers in Ohio is a much better use of time.
