while I was indeed chastised for being left-handed when I was young, I was never beaten by my father for it. I was never beaten-up on the playground for it. I was never told I would go to hell because of it. I was never denied a job because of it. And I have never once been in fear for my life because of it.

ALL of those things happened to me, and many others because of their sexuality. You probably mean well, and I'm not trying to say otherwise.

But if you are truly an ally, you DO need to care.
