45. He's definitely conservative with a small "c",
but I'm not sure I'd call him "rabidly" right-wing, although he's certainly on the right. I think he just likes being awkward and contrary more than anything else, and he's made a bloody good living out of it over the years. At one time Peter Hitchens was a Trotskyite, and at various times has belonged to both the Labour and Conservative parties (but now belongs to neither and is critical of both). He's anti-religion, but doesn't believe in evolution. He's a snob but writes a "faux plebian" column for the UK's Sunday Mail newspaper. See what I mean? Contrary. (My opinion, BTW, and others here may have a completely different take on the man.)

Peter Hitchens is against the war, which makes him more palatable to me than his brother on that score but, basically, I find each of them as unpleasant as the other.
