12. Dems have been... a disappointlment
We are scared shitless that taking a stand and saying what we believe will lose us elections and so we equivocate. And we lose elections. We can't be for universal health because we might be portrayed as Socialists. We can't stand for gay rights because the Fundies will paint us as immoral and out of touch with the mainstream. We can't talk about the economy and the deficit because those topics are not sexy. We can't fight the Rethugs in the trenches because we don't want to be seen as lowering ourselves to their level.

We blame our lost elections on fraud, and that's part of it. But a lot of it is our own damn fault. Our politicians won't stand up for what we believe in and yet they expect voters to trust them to run the country. I'm ashamed of the way our party has behaved during the last six years and I'm hard pressed to find a reason to vote for them other than that the Rethugs are obviously so much worse. Being the lesser of two evils isn't all that inspiring to me and I'm on our side. How do we expect to win others over with this kind of shit? I have hope that we can win in November, but if we do it won't be because of us it'll be because of them. If we get the House and don't use it to start putting our country right we deserve whatever we end up becoming.
