recover from the vast array of damages wrought by this President, his Administration and the Republican Congress. Even just living long enough to see a major fraction of the policies enacted by those corrupt entities would be worthy of celebrating...

Alas, I suspect that even if we had a significant majority in both houses of Congress AND the Presidency, it would take decades, if not generations to undo the harm--heck, it may take that long to undo just the changes in policy and law. We have our work cut out for us.

Applying the concept of "opportunity cost" to this sorry episode (2001-2008) means we will forever mourn "what might have been". We can't get those years back; we can't make a trillion and more dollars of debt disappear (though reinstating the 2000 Tax Rates** RETROACTIVELY, at least upon those more wealthy people and corporations, might help); and we can't undo all the damage we've done to the people of other countries, much less ourselves. The list of what can't be made up for is long; the possiblity of even reversing the policies involved isn't even good, yet... for there's much we still cannot do--without the Presidency on board, and with such small majorities--and with an upcoming critical Presidential Election (we can't rock the boat too much--yet we must...).
