4. Do you get the sense of "Falling Down"?
In that movie, Michael Douglas plays an employee of a defense department contractor. All his life, he's played by what he thought were the rules, and his life has just gone to pot. Douglas gets caught in a traffic jam on an L.A. freeway on a hot summer's day, and he just sort of loses it. He abandons his car on an on-ramp and starts walking across the city. As his story unfolds, you find out that everything has just gone to hell for him. At the end of the trail, the end of the day, he's confronted by Robert Duvall, playing the standard-issue cop who's about to retire, who draws down on Douglas. By this time, Douglas is completely bewildered by everything that's happened, and how has it all come to this: Looking down the barrel of a cop's gun and wondering "How did I get to be the bad guy?"

Poppy kind of reminds me of that sick, pathetic character, who's only now starting to wonder "How did I get to be the bad guy?"
