Michael Parenti used to do a thought experiment with his students when they claimed that there was no racism. He asked how much money it would take for them to accept having their race reassigned to African-American. They always said they'd require a huge amount of money, like $2 million. When he asked why, they'd say, "Well, I'd be under all these disadvantages..." and sometimes the light would go on in their eyes.
