NY-16: Who do you want to win, Jamaal Bowman or George Latimer?

Simple poll. Do tell your choice.

What do you think the Popular Vote margin be this November?

Yes, I know the Popular Vote is meaningless in this country, but I'm curious to know what everyone is thinking. Basically tied? A difference of 5 points? 10?

Shocking CBS immigration poll

62% want all undocumented immigrants deported. Scroll halfway down this article:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/poll-trump-biden-neck-and-neck-06-09-2024/

A nearly six in 10 majority of voters say they would favor, in principle, a new government program to deport all undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. illegally.

(That isn't purely partisan, it includes a third of Democrats. It rises to nine in 10 Republicans.)

A similarly sized majority would have local law enforcement try to identify those living in the U.S. illegally, and just under half support the idea of setting up large government detention centers to sort out which people ought to be deported.

Italy's PM Meloni comes out on top in EU vote, strengthening her hand

Source: Reuters

ROME, June 10 (Reuters) - Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's arch-conservative Brothers of Italy group won the most votes in this weekend's European parliamentary election, initial results showed, boosting her standing both at home and abroad.

Projected forecasts based on the early count said Brothers of Italy had won 28.3%, more than four times what it took in the last EU election in 2019 and beating the 26% it secured in the 2022 national ballot, when it rose to power.

"THANK YOU!" Meloni said on her X social media account, above a photograph of her flashing the victory symbol.

The opposition centre-left Democratic Party came in second on 23.7% with another opposition group, the 5-Star Movement, coming third on 10.5% -- its worst showing at a countrywide level since its creation in 2009.

China creates groundbreaking electric car battery that fully charges in just 10 minutes

Source: MSN

China has developed a revolutionary car battery that can charge in just 10 minutes and power a car for hundreds of miles before needing to be plugged in.

A report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) has hailed the “remarkable” advancements in battery chemistry that have enabled China to produce batteries with far greater energy density than existing technologies. These breakthroughs have positioned China as a leader in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, raising both opportunities and concerns globally.

The IEA’s Global Critical Minerals Outlook emphasized that Chinese battery company CATL has developed a fast-charging “Shenxing” battery. This innovative battery is set to be integrated into electric vehicles later this year, providing a substantial leap forward in the efficiency and usability of EVs.

The report credits China’s series of breakthroughs in battery chemistry for its current dominance. One of the most significant developments has been the resurgence of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode chemistry. Innovations have nearly doubled the energy density by eliminating dead space within the batteries, massively extending the range of EVs. This technological advancement is expected to alleviate “range anxiety”—a common concern among EV drivers about the limited distance their vehicles can travel on a single charge.

Biden faces silent protests at Morehouse commencement

Source: ABC News

ATLANTA -- President Joe Biden was met with silent protests as he delivered the commencement address at Morehouse College in Atlanta on Sunday, after some students and faculty members voiced strong opposition to his visit over the president's handling of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

In his speech before the president's address, valedictorian DeAngelo "DJ" Fletcher called for an "immediate and permanent cease-fire in Gaza."

When Biden spoke, he directly addressed the issue, saying, "What’s happening in Gaza and Israel is heartbreaking."

While there were no disruptive protests, students and faculty showed their opposition in other ways. A handful of graduates turned their chairs when Biden spoke. One faculty member stood with her back turned away from the president with her right fist raised.

My 2 cents: Gallego leading by 13 is great news, I didn't think it was gonna be a blowout. The two Florida polls are meh, I expected that. Arizona Trump vs. Biden is bad news, but only for now. Let's wait till October to worry.

Angela Alsobrooks wins contentious Democratic Senate primary in Maryland

Source: The Hill

Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks (D) has won the Democratic primary for Maryland’s open Senate seat, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ.

Alsobrooks beat out fellow Democrat Rep. David Trone (Md.) in what had become a tumultuous race. Just days earlier, an Emerson College Polling/The Hill/DC News Now found the two in a dead heat.

She will make history if she wins in November, becoming the first Black woman to represent the Old Line State in the Senate.

Alsobrooks is set to face off against popular former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) in the fall.
