(AP) A federal judge will hear arguments Monday on whether she should at least temporarily halt the immigration crackdown in Minnesota that has led to the fatal shootings of two people by government officers. The shooting of Alex Pretti by a Border Patrol officer on Saturday has only added urgency to the case.

(Minneapolis Star-Tribune) Republican Chris Madel made a stunning exit from the Minnesota governors race on Jan. 26, saying he cannot support the national GOPs stated retribution on the citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so. In a surprise video announcement, the Minneapolis attorney said he supported the originally stated goals of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements operation in Minnesota, including the deportation of undocumented immigrants with serious criminal records, but the effort has expanded far beyond its stated focus on true public safety threats.
Go to discussionQuite a statement by the Republican governor of Vermont
(Gov. Phill Scott) "Enough ... it's not acceptable for American citizens to be killed by federal agents for exercising their God-given and constitutional rights to protest their government. At best, these federal immigration operations are a complete failure of coordination of acceptable public safety and law enforcement practices, training, and leadership. At worst, it's a deliberate federal intimidation and incitement of American citizens that's resulting in the murder of Americans. Again, enough is enough. The President should pause these operations, de-escalate the situation, and reset the federal government's focus on truly criminal illegal immigrants."

We're angry, but we won't give up hope. And above all else, we are clearly unified."

For the second time in a month, Noem has immediately defended federal officers for shooting and killing a protester without any investigation or concrete evidence. Pretti was shot multiple times by federal agents Saturday, and Renee Good was shot four times and killed by officer Jonathan Ross on Jan. 7. In both cases, Noem immediately claimed the officers were acting in self-defense.

(The Independent) As the US reeled from the latest shooting of an anti-ICE protester by federal agents, Donald Trump launched a 450-word rant in which he claimed that stopping the construction of his luxurious $400 million presidential ballroom would be devastating to the White House, our Country, and all concerned.
