GOP Sen. Ben Sasse says he's a NO on confirmation of Judge Jackson.

GOP Sen. Ben Sasse says he’s a NO on confirmation of Judge Jackson. That is another sign that the committee is likely to deadlock 11-11. The nomination would still advance to the floor if there were a tie vote.

“Judge Jackson is an extraordinary person with an extraordinary American story. We both love this country, but we disagree on judicial philosophy and I am sadly unable to vote for this confirmation,” Sasse says

Nip this in the bud. Fast!

First comment:

Oh, these two are gonna be a MAJOR pain in the ass. They already started that they’ll be home all day, which means they’re gonna have nothing better to do than look for stuff to report.

Woooo… good luck to their neighbors.

Macomb County prosecutor under investigation for inappropriate workplace behavior again

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Macomb County has hired a law firm to investigate employee complaints against Prosecutor Peter Lucido.

Through a Freedom of Information Act request, 7 Action News just received a copy of a notice telling Lucido in February he’s facing ”complaints alleging unlawful discrimination and/or harassment.”

The letter warns him not to retaliate against anyone who could be his accuser.

Macomb County’s Corporation Counsel John Schapka told 7 Action News that employees in the prosecutor’s office complained, but he can not disclose the nature of the allegations due to an ongoing investigation. The county has hired an outside law firm to investigate.

In January 2020, Lucido attracted controversy for telling Allison Donahue, a 22-year-old female reporter for the Michigan Advance, that a visiting group of teenage boys from De La Salle Collegiate High School could "have a lot of fun" with her if she were to "hang around" with them.[23] The comment was widely interpreted as an instance of sexual harassment, prompting the Senate Business Office of the State of Michigan to open a sexual harassment investigation against Lucido.[24] The controversy was covered in national and international outlets like The New York Times,[25] Teen Vogue,[26] and the BBC News.[27] Lucido initially agreed that he had made these remarks, apologizing for them but asserting that they were not intended to be disparaging,[25] but later reversed his agreement and alleged that he had been misquoted.[28][29] Lucido was subsequently also accused of sexual harassment by Mallory McMorrow, a fellow Michigan senator.[30]

Lucido was accused of inappropriate remarks by three different women. An investigation was made and agreed the comments were inappropriate so Lucido was removed from his committee chairmanship. The investigation said other comments could not be substantiated and therefore a more severe punishment was not warranted. (2018)[31]
