General Strike May 1?

I see that the organizers of the No Kings days are calling for a General Strike on May 1. No work, no school, no shopping. That's their plan. My question is, how effective will it be? It seemed to be easy to convince people to gather with signs. Will people join a general strike? It just seems ambitious to me.

I'm home!

I was discharged from the rehab facility yesterday. It felt so good to sleep in my own bed once again. I could not have found a better place to rehabilitate from my wounds. The building had 4 wings, two for long term care and two for short term care. Each wing has a capacity of ten patients, so I was lucky that they had a n open bed when I needed it. The staff was invariably professional and caring.

I still have a long way to go before I am healed, but for now am thankful to be able to get around with a walker. I am enrolled with VNA, so I can get the help I need to get back to a normal life.

Update on my busted femur.

The surgery was Wednesday. Thursday, with help from a physical therapist and an occupational therapist, I was able to sit straight up at the edge of the bead and place both feet on the floor. Progress! Friday, I moved my bowels and, with help from the therapists, I was able to stand, pivot, and sit in a mobile recliner. Yesterday I was transported to a rehab facility where I will learn to walk again. It is a comfortable place. I have a private room, the food is home cooked, and today for the first time, I am out of bed and dressed in something other than a hospital johnny. I'll be watching my beloved Celtics take on the evil '76ers tonight. Foxtrot Delta Tango!
