bluescribbler's JournalOne thing bothered me in last night's debate.
The mods referred to tsf as, "the President", or "Mr. President". He is not the President. He was afforded more respect than he deserves.
Was Will Rogers wrong?
It has long been my custom to quote Will when he said, "I'm not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat." After seeing the party rally around VP Harris, I think we may have turned a corner.

Richard Shindell - The Things That I Have Seen
I heard this song on the radio yesterday morning. I dedicate this post to my grandfather. I still have the Purple Heart he earned in WWI.
No more weapons for Bibi's war crimes.
The killing of WCK workers in Gaza is appalling. The fact that the weapons which killed them were likely provided by the USA makes us complicit in this war crime. The USA must halt the sale of any more weapons to Israel until there is a cease fire and sufficient humanitarian aid is able to be delivered to the citizens of Gaza.
I was elected!
The phone rang this morning. It was the Greenfield City Clerk, informing me that I had 14 write-in votes, which was enough to get elected to the town Democratic Committee. I am excited to meet more local Democrats and to get on with the work to re-elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
Throwing my hat into the ring.
When I lived in Waltham, I was an elected member of my local ward committee and served for a time as Ward Chair. In 2002 I sold my house in Waltham and moved to Greenfield. After I moved in, I tried to contact the Greenfield Town Committee about getting involved, but I never heard back.
I got my Primary ballot yesterday. Along with the President, other offices on the ballot are Democrat State Committee and the Greenfield Democratic Town Committee. For the Town Committee, the instructions on the ballot read, "Vote for no more than Thirty-Five." I counted, 32 names on the ballot. It appears that the Committee has some vacancies, which they should be happy to fill. I have made a few friends in my condo complex and have served for over 1 year on the condo association Board. So, I'm launching a write-in campaign for the Committee. I understand that a write-in running essentially unopposed, needs a minimum of five votes to be elected. I'm pretty sure I can dig up at least five votes by the election day.
But wait, there's more.
The ballot for State Committee is divided along gender lines. By charter, we can have one man and one woman. We are not allowed to have two of either. Greenfield has no nominated candidates for either the Man's seat or the Woman's. So, to make a long story shorter, I'm running for that office, as well. PM me if you want more info.
