New Morning Consult National Poll: Harris 51 Trump 45

11,022 Likely voters with an MOE of 1%

https://www.270towin.com/2024-presidential-election-polls/national

That’s a huge sample and a very small MOE. No wonder Trump is going more nuts. This margin would translate to a popular vote win of over 9 million votes.

Question: What name(s) should the Vice President call Trump during the debate tonight

Only demeaning/insulting but accurate suggestions allowed!

Well, this has convinced me

FYI, I filed a complaint with the FCC for unsolicited text messages but the FEC requires complaints to be notarised and in writing. It’s almost as if they don’t want complaints. Please feel free to spam the senders number at the top.

Assuming Trump loses in November ...

… and I’m now quite optimistic that will be the case, what will happen to Trump in terms of the Republican Party?

Trump and the RNC are now almost inextricably linked barring some kind of revolt because Trump acolytes and family are in the leadership positions. Would Trump really run for President for a fourth time and would he get any serious challengers? Who is the next potential leader of the Republican Party? Do they tack back to the center or will it be a potentially more radical person than Trump himself?
Ted Cruz?
Ron DeSantis?
Nikki Haley?
Greg Abbott?
Matt Gaetz?
Vivek Ramaswamy?
Stephen Miller?
Rick “Skeletor” Scott?

Other ideas?

I think it’s really going to require some Republican with cojones to push Trump out, even with a second electoral loss under his belt. Trump will still have massive legal bills and he needs the fund-raising capacity of the Republican Party to generate cash so he doesn’t have to pay them out of his own pocket.
Or does Trump hold onto control and take the national party down with him?

Discuss!

So does the SCOTUS ruling on immunity mean Nixon was correct?

When the President does it it’s not a crime!

WaPo: Texas man files legal action to probe ex-partner's out-of-state abortion

Well, of course it’s Texas

https://wapo.st/3wa4JIL

As soon as Collin Davis found out his ex-partner was planning to travel to Colorado to have an abortion in late February, the Texas man retained a high-powered antiabortion attorney — who court records show immediately issued a legal threat.

If the woman proceeded with the abortion, even in a state where the procedure remains legal, Davis would seek a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abortion and “pursue wrongful-death claims against anyone involved in the killing of his unborn child,” the lawyer wrote in a letter, according to records.
Now, Davis has disclosed his former partner’s abortion to a state district court in Texas, asking for the power to investigate what his lawyer characterizes as potentially illegal activity in a state where almost all abortions are banned.

Davis’s petition — filed under Texas’s Rule 202 by Jonathan Mitchell, a prominent antiabortion attorney known for devising new and aggressive legal strategies to crack down on abortion — follows a lawsuit filed last spring by another Texas man, Marcus Silva, who is attempting to sue three women who allegedly helped his ex-wife obtain abortion pills.

Weisselberg to plead guilty to perjury in Trump's fraud trial

Judge Engoron is going to be pissed

Former Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg is expected to plead guilty to perjury charges on Monday related to the testimony he gave in the New York civil fraud trial of Donald Trump and his company, NBC News reported.

Weisselberg, 76, arrived at the Manhattan District Attorney’s office before 7 a.m. ET and was expected to enter his guilty plea some time on Monday morning, NBC reported, citing three sources familiar with the matter.

College graduation rates are abysmal

College graduation rates are abysmal. By state, the best is Massachusetts at 44.5%. The graduation rate for Washington DC is a lot higher at 59.8%, but I think there are obvious unique circumstances there.

The top 9 states for graduation rate after Massachusetts are: CO, MD, NJ, CT, VT, VA, NH, NY, and MN (36.8%).

The bottom ten states from best to worst are:
NM 28.1%
IN
AL
OK
NV
KY
LA
AR
MS
WV 21.3%
